Indeed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0022030206721981\">some studies<\/a> consider milk as an almost nutritionally complete food.<\/p>\n<p>And while dairy consumption is a relatively recent phenomenon &#8212; evident in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/news\/pottery-shards-put-a-date-on-africa-s-dairying-1.10863\">pottery shards<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/news\/2007\/070226\/full\/070226-4.html\">ancient bones<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s12520-019-00911-7\">plaque from Neolithic teeth<\/a>, indications are that it provided a significant evolutionary advantage among ancient humans who consumed it.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/15114531?dopt=Abstract&amp;holding=npg\">major 2004 study<\/a> indicated that humans with the mutation which allowed the human digestion of lactase would have produced up to 19% more fertile offspring than those who lacked it.
